RSC Helps Keller Construction Save Foster Home Recently, the RSC Equipment Rental office in Edmonton, Alberta (store #004), took part in a very special charitable project that involved a number of local companies and dozens of generous volunteers. The project, the renovation of a busy foster home that badly needed upgrading, was completed in less than 72 hours. Local stores and service providers donated equipment for the renovation, including RSC, which donated a set of 4000-watt trailer-mounted light towers, four vacuums and a 5kw generator. The lights enabled construction crews to continue working well into the night, in order to finish on time. "RSC's donation was perfect for the job, we helped shed some light to help a couple who has provided light, laughter and love for a lot of children," said Barry Brown, General Manager of the Edmonton RSC store. The endeavour began when John Cameron, owner of Keller Construction, Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, heard about the case and sent out a call for help. The site was the residence of Lorne and Peggy Millar near Spruce Grove. The Millars have spent their lives raising more than 60 foster children, all of whom had been physically or mentally challenged, often as a result of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Five of the children are currently still under the Millars' care. However, their home had fallen into disrepair, and government officials recently ruled the facility to be substandard. They threatened to remove the foster children unless the Millars immediately made numerous major improvements. Keller Construction drew up plans to perform an "extreme makeover" for the Millars. In just three days, a small army of workers conducted all necessary demolition (carpets, cabinets, siding, etc.) and remodelling of the home. "We were more than happy to contribute," Barry Brown said. "The Millars have done so much for others; it's really exciting to be able to help them and their children. They deserve it."
