Customer Focus Drives Mack Construction Leadership

Mack Trucks, Inc. took the opportunity provided by the Conexpo-Con/Agg exhibition to showcase its line up of industry-leading heavy-duty construction vehicles and to express optimism about the truck market in the year ahead.

"We take great pride in our leadership position in the heavy-duty construction truck market," said Paul Vikner, Mack president and CEO. "Behind this success are the principles that drive everything we do understanding and focusing on the business needs of our customers, and providing high quality products and services that exceed their expectations."

Vikner pointed to the company's Granite® model, the number one selling Class 8 conventional straight truck in the U.S.*, as an example.

"Our Granite model was developed with extensive customer input," he said. "The result is a vehicle that truly enhances the productivity and profitability of our construction customers' operations. And the new axle back version we're just now bringing to market provides an equally strong value proposition."

The "tandem/tandem" conversion, in the background, was done by Simard Inc. in Baie-St-Paul (Quebec).

The new Granite Axle Back vehicle combines all of the advantages of the number one selling axle forward model including a large, strong, comfortable cab; best-in-class visibility; an ergonomically-designed electronic dash; and advanced electronics with a new, bold exterior featuring distinctive flexible fender extensions, sleek halogen headlamps, and available stylized bumpers and mirrors.

This tough new addition to the Mack lineup can be configured to handle any vocational application. Its set-back front axle is engineered to enhance maneuverability around job sites and maximize legal payload.

In conjunction with the show, Mack was co-hosting with Volvo Construction Equipment a major customer event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"In many cases, Mack customers are also interested in what Volvo Construction Equipment has to offer- and vice versa. So fostering a relationship between the two brands is in line with our goal of providing total customer service."
