Canada’s First Liebherr Luffing Jib Crane

A Liebherr 355 HC-L 12/24 Litronic luffing jib crane has been used on construction of the Cancer Centre for Longueuil’s (Montreal’s South shore) Hospital Charles Le Moyne – making its debut in Canada.

Featuring a 40,6 m tower height, the crane with a 60 m jib has a maximum lifting capacity of 4500 kg at 60,0 m.

Supplied by local distributor Morrow Equipment, the luffing jib crane was delivered to main contractor Construction LJP Inc..

In a 23 month contract Construction LJP has just completed the basement and two-storey building to provide an additional 11 220 m2 expansion for laboratories, operating room, central sterilization and intensive care facilities.

An additional six-storeys are planned to be added in the near future to complete the Cancer Centre development.

Set to provide an additional 18 180 m2, it will ensure that the centre has more teaching and research facilities to maintain its role as a leading University Centre in Cancer care.

Since delivery of the 355 HC-L, four units have been delivered to the Morrow rental fleet for projects throughout Quebec Province.
