CANAC Gets the 100,000th Milestone Moffett

After months of build-up and miles of ocean, the milestone 100,000th global Moffett truck-mounted forklift arrived in Quebec. And Canac-Marquis Grenier Ltée has the keys.
Shipped from Moffett’s “Factory of the Future” in Dundalk, Ireland, in July, Mécano Alca, the Service Center located in Blainville, north of Montreal, uncrated the unit and did a thorough pre-delivery inspection. Patrick Dionne, HIAB Québec’s territory manager then delivered it to Raphaele Dumont of Canac with all the fanfare it deserved.

“Every Moffett and every Moffett customer is special,” said Mr. Dionne. “I’m delighted that HIAB Québec – and one of my customers – CANAC, is receiving this milestone 100,000th Moffett."

The 100,000th Moffett is a meaningful milestone for Moffett, for HIAB Québec and its parent company, Atlas Polar. Moffett truck-mounted forklifts launched a revolution in the materials handling industry in 1986, and the brand has never looked back. Recognizable red Moffetts are mounted on the back of trucks and trailers of all sizes en route to job sites in a broad spectrum of industries in Quebec and across the country.

Introduced to Canada by Atlas Polar in 1989, Moffett’s 60-second, single-operator dismount changed deliveries forever.

Since then, the brand’s overwhelming global success has made Moffett truck-mounted forklifts the Canadian industry standard (CIS). It is a testament to the forklifts’ versatility, durability, productivity, performance, ease of use, safety, and proprietary features, including patented Lift Assist® arms on pantograph reach models, GroundStart, GroundMount and the Cover N Go retractable seat cover, a novel idea from one of Atlas Polar’s employees.

Today, Moffett forklifts are at work in more than 45 countries. The company delivered over 25,000 machines in the last 5 years alone.

Truck-mounted forklifts were a relatively new addition to Canac. Still, their first Moffett order soon grew into a fleet and an integral part of the company’s business, as they quickly proved a big benefit to its customers.

“Moffett is the most reliable product in the industry,” said Raphaele Dumont, manager of Fleet & Delivery at Canac. “Operators love the ease of deploying the equipment and the speed of unloading. They allow us to diversify our delivery service.”

Those benefits perfectly suit Canac’s steady growth as stores are popping up across the province.

“It’s rewarding to see Moffett’s success, hear about the impact Moffetts have on my customers’ businesses and have their confidence now and in the future,” added Patrick Dionne.

Keep your eye out for this unique 100,000th Moffett on the road or on delivery for Canac. It’s easily identifiable with its special serial number plate and custom decals. It will stand out amidst the thousands of other bright red Moffett’s on Canada’s job sites, but it is just one of many awaiting delivery for HIAB Quebec’s customers. They’re all unique.

Canac-Marquis Grenier is the result of the merger in 1981 of 2 family-owned companies – Jos Grenier, founded in 1875, and Louis Canac-Marquis, founded in 1878. Since then, the company grew in the Quebec-City region and the rest of Quebec.
