Genie’s New Manufacturing Facility Earns LEED® Gold
Genie recently announced that its manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico, has earned the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence. Through design, construction and operations practices that improve environmental and human health, LEED-certified buildings are helping to make the world more sustainable. Green buildings also allow companies to operate more sustainably and give the people inside them a healthier, more comfortable space to work. LEED projects earn points by adhering to prerequisites and credits across 9 measurements for building excellence from integrative design to human health to material use, including:
The Terex Genie Mexico facility achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas that included, but were not limited to, reducing indoor and outdoor water usage, optimizing energy performance and renewable energy production – all identified as regional priorities. “Achieving LEED certification is more than just implementing sustainable practices. It represents a commitment to making the world a better place and influencing others to do better,” said Peter Templeton, president and CEO, USGBC. “Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role buildings play in that effort, Terex Genie Mexico is creating a path forward with their certification.”
