EasyHeat Freeze Free Self-Regulating Pipe Heating Cable Delivers Freeze Protection Down to -50°C

Emerson recently highlighted the EasyHeat Freeze Free self-regulating pipe heating cable, a cut-to-length, field-configurable solution engineered to keep residential water supply and drain pipes flowing freely in punishing cold-weather conditions. Rated to protect metal and plastic pipes down to an extreme -51°C at 120 VAC. EasyHeat Freeze Free is the technically precise, energy-efficient answer to a problem that costs U.S. homeowners an estimated US$400–500 million ($566-700 million) annually, according to the Insurance Information Institute.

The Smart Science of Self-Regulation
Unlike fixed-output constant-wattage cables that burn energy regardless of ambient conditions, the EasyHeat Freeze Free cable’s proprietary conductive polymer core dynamically adjusts its heat output based on real-time surrounding temperatures. As the mercury drops, electrical resistance in the core decreases, driving watt output up precisely where and when protection is needed most. As temperatures recover, resistance rises and power draw falls. The result is thermally responsive, adaptive freeze protection with no thermostats required for most residential applications.

Rated at 9.8 W/m at +10°C, the cable’s self-regulating operation also makes it safe to overlap, resulting in no hot spots and no burnout risk when wrapping valves, flanges, or irregular pipes.

Precision Fit for Every Job
EasyHeat Freeze Free is engineered for real-world installation complexity. Available on 30 m, 90 m, and 150 m reels, the cable can be cut to exact length in the field, eliminating waste and reducing install time across multi-pipe, multi-length residential projects. In addition, pre-packaged 1.5 m and 4.5 m kits are offered for smaller areas.

Built for Where Pipes Freeze
EasyHeat Freeze Free is purpose-designed for the residential freeze-risk scenarios that cause the most damage:

  • Plastic and metal water supply and drain pipes in unheated or under-insulated spaces
  • Water supply lines beneath mobile and manufactured homes
  • Pipes in cottages, barns, and outbuildings with intermittent occupancy or no active heating

Certified, Connected, and Warranty-Backed
EasyHeat Freeze Free is UL Listed to US Safety Standards and CSA Certified – the dual-market certifications that professional installers and code inspectors demand. Installation is completed with EasyHeat fused plug connection kits (10802 or 10803), which safely terminate the cable into a standard GFCI-protected outlet. For maximum energy efficiency, the system integrates with the EasyHeat EH38 Pre-Set Thermostat, automatically energizing the cable below +3°C and shutting off above +10°C. The complete system is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.
EasyHeat Freeze Free Cables are available through authorized distributors and leading residential HVAC and plumbing supply channels. Reel configurations serve contractor and OEM applications; pre-packaged kits serve retail and homeowner markets.
