Elgin Sweeper’s 360 Camera System

Street sweepers routinely work close to curbs, parked cars, pedestrians, and work crews, often in low‑light or poor‑weather conditions. Traditional mirrors and single rear‑view cameras can leave critical blind spots, especially near the side brooms, rear corners, and immediately in front of the vehicle, increasing risk and potential future liability for fleet owners.

The CPAC Systems 360 solution uses 4HD cameras strategically mounted around the sweeper to create a seamless, bird’s‑eye view of the machine and its surroundings. Those cameras feed a single in‑cab HD display, so the operator has one central place to monitor activity around the sweeper instead of juggling multiple screens or mirrors.

Beyond a stitched top‑down image, the system supports multiple viewing modes, including a 3D surround view that gives operators a more natural sense of depth and distance. Adjustable viewing angles and automatic view changes tied to turn signals or gear selection ensure the most relevant perspective appears at the right moment, such as backing up, turning, or working close to parked vehicles.

By reducing blind spots around the entire sweeper, the 360 system helps minimize the risk of contact with obstacles, other vehicles, and people. This added situational awareness can contribute to fewer incidents, less downtime, and lower repair costs, while also improving public confidence when sweepers are operating in busy neighborhoods.

For municipalities and contractors already focused on operator training and safety culture, this technology becomes a powerful tool to reinforce good habits and reduce everyday risk.

Elgin Sweeper has long emphasized operator visibility, making features like high‑visibility cabs and dedicated broom cameras part of its product evolution. The collaboration with CPAC Systems extends that focus by delivering a modern 360° solution purpose‑built for work vehicles rather than adapted from consumer automotive systems.
