XCMG and Sinopec Sign Deal to Launch the World’s First 14,000-ton Circular Rail Crane

XCMG and Sinopec Heavy Lifting & Transportation Co., Ltd. recently announced the signature of a project contract on October 10 for the world’s first 14,000-ton circular rail crane, marking a landmark achievement in the decade-long strategic alliance since 2015, which has consistently driven breakthroughs in ultra-heavy lifting technologies and set new benchmarks for the global engineering equipment industry.

The new 14,000-ton circular rail crane project is set to bring China's independent ultra-large lifting equipment core technologies to new heights.

“Setting an industry benchmark for the independent innovation and engineering transformation of major technological equipment, this collaboration has become a model of powerful alliances and collaborative innovation within the industrial chain,” noted Yang Dongsheng, chairman of XCMG, “XCMG and SHLTC have jointly established a new paradigm of synergistic development throughout the R&D-manufacturing-application process.”

Initiated in 2015, the joint development of the 14,000-ton circular rail crane has tackled 2 critical core technology bottlenecks:

  • Electric direct-drive technology: Pioneered through extensive testing and optimization, it delivers over 30% comprehensive energy savings while improving operational efficiency by 25%.
  • Multi-functional adaptability: The innovative “one machine, multiple functions” design enables the crane to handle both large and small working radii, providing flexibility for complex scenarios such as chemical engineering and nuclear power applications.

The future deployment of the 14,000-ton circular rail crane will significantly shorten construction cycles of large-scale projects, facilitate earlier project commissioning and accelerate returns on investment.
Over the years, XCMG has strengthened joint R&D efforts with partners to co-develop new products and solutions that benefit all parties. The strategic alliance between XCMG and Sinopec brings top-quality crane products to the global market.

“XCMG will continue to drive the in-depth localization of ultra-large engineering equipment and extend our mature, reliable ‘China solutions’ to more engineering sectors. By providing global clients with more efficient, safer, and energy-saving construction solutions, XCMG remains committed to contributing solid ‘XCMG power’ to the industry,” said Mr. Yang.
