Solution Mécanique Diesel, une entreprise spécialisée en entretien d’équipements de forage, annonçait récemment la nomination de Patrick Bégin au poste de directeur des Opérations. Monsieur Bégin a débuté sa carrière dans le domaine du forage en 2009, d’abord commis d’entrepôt durant 2 ans, puis au service à la clientèle pendant 3 ans. Par la suite, il a été administrateur de service pendant près de 9 ans. «J’ai aujourd’hui la chance de faire partie d’une équipe motivée et travaillante, qui a le service à la clientèle à coeur. Le service est notre priorité, nous avons la solution pour vous», déclarait Patrick Bégin.
Felling Trailers Inc., un fabricant de remorques industrielles et commerciales, annonçait récemment la nomination de Dan Klimek au poste de directeur de l’assurance de la qualité pour les 2 installations de production (Sauk Center et Litchfield, au Minnesota). En plus de la gestion de la qualité, il supervisera le soudage à l’usine de Litchfield. En tant que directeur de l’assurance qualité, monsieur Klimek continuera à développer, diriger, contrôler et gérer l’installation et la maintenance des programmes d’assurance qualité de l’entreprise. Felling Trailers, Inc. a initialement obtenu sa certification ISO 9001 pour la gestion de la qualité en 2017. Dan Klimek compte plus de 30 ans d’expérience dans le domaine de la fabrication, des systèmes de contrôle de la qualité et des processus. Avant d’accepter les postes d’assurance de la qualité et de directeur de la production chez Felling Trailers, il a occupé des rôles similaires chez Polar Tank Trailers, LLC pendant plus de 10 ans. Plus récemment, il a été le directeur général des opérations de Polar Tank Trailers dans le Minnesota.
Lors de sa réunion annuelle d’hiver à Santa Fe, au Nouveau-Mexique, le conseil d’administration de l’American Water Works Association (AWWA) a choisi Cheryl Porter, de Detroit, au Michigan, en tant que prochaine présidente élue de l’association. Le conseil a également choisi 4 vice-présidents et 2 directeurs généraux. Madame Porter commencera son mandat de présidente élue en juin, à la clôture de la Conférence et exposition annuelle de l’AWWA (ACE23). Son mandat de présidente débutera en juin 2024, après celui de l’actuelle président élu Patrick Kerr. Cheryl Porter est directrice de l’exploitation des services d’eau et de terrain à la Great Lakes Water Authority, à Détroit, où elle travaille depuis 2016. Depuis qu’elle a rejoint l’AWWA en 2005, elle a été active au sein de la section du Michigan de l’AWWA et a occupé le poste de vice-présidente de l’AWWA. Elle est actuellement membre du comité des finances de l’AWWA. Madame Porter est titulaire d’un baccalauréat ès sciences en chimie de l’Université du Michigan, d’un doctorat en droit de la faculté de droit de l’Université de Détroit et d’un MBA de l’Université Madonna. Le conseil d’administration a également choisi Amy Stoffer, vice-présidente de l’ingénierie, de la production et de la qualité de l’eau pour le Northern Kentucky Water District, en tant que directrice générale et Jeff Zdrojewski, directeur du développement commercial pour Pure Technologies, une marque de Xylem, en tant que directeur général représentant les fournisseurs de services. Tous les nouveaux dirigeants commenceront leur mandat en juin, à l’issue de l’ACE23.

Astec Industries, Inc. recently announced the appointmant of Jaco van der Merwe to serve as president and CEO and as a member of the Astec Industries’ board of directors, replacing Barry Ruffalo. Mr. van der Merwe joined Astec in 2016 as a Group president, after having an impressive 18-year career at Atlas Copco including president of Atlas Copco Mining and Rock Excavation in Johannesburg, South Africa. Jaco van der Merwe is a naturalized U.S. citizen, originally from South Africa where he completed his Metallurgical Engineering studies at Tshwane University of Technology and a MBA from the University of Pretoria. “It is an honor to be the CEO of Astec and I look forward to our journey together. The hardworking people of Astec are the key to our success. The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Gordon Raymond Hefner as executive director. He replaces Bev Garnant who led the association for over 20 years. Mr. Hefner possesses over 27 years of association management experience in the construction trades. He will be responsible for the administration of all ASCC programs and will oversee its office staff. Gordon Raymond Hefner possesses a B.A. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, an M.A. from Webster University where he was a “distinguished” graduate and holds a Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives. ASCC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of those who build with concrete, and to providing them a unified voice in the construction industry. Members include concrete contracting firms, manufacturers, suppliers and others interested in the concrete industry such as architects, specifiers and distributors. There are approximately 720 member companies in the U.S. and 11 foreign countries.
NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete, a uniquely positioned center providing access to technologies and the knowledge needed to effectively and safely produce and place carbon neutral concrete in the built environment, recently announced the appointment of Dean A. Frank, P.E., to serve as executive director of NEU. Mr. Frank previously worked as director of validation for NEU and as program developer for the American Concrete Institute (ACI). He brings extensive experience in sustainability, International Standards Organization (ISO) standards, and certification development of personnel, products and manufacturing plants. Prior to joining ACI, Dean A. Frank gained a comprehensive working knowledge of resilience and sustainability as an employee at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., the National Precast Concrete Association, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, and through his consulting company. He also has experience in working as an assessor with ISO standards governing the operations of conformity assessment bodies and is a licensed P.E. in Indiana and Colorado. “NEU has been growing quickly and I’m excited about our opportunities to make a difference in reducing the carbon emissions of concrete,” said Mr. Frank. “I have enjoyed the work I’ve been doing with NEU so far in setting up the validation program, which we believe will have a big impact on the industry."
