CIFA Energya Electric Mixer on Scania XT Electric Truck
A Scania 25 P XT battery electric vehicle (BEV) with a concrete mixer from CIFA was shown at the Bauma fair in Munich last October. It is extremely well suited for demanding operations in busy city areas where maneuverability, robustness and zero tailpipe emissions are among the top priorities. “Sustainable, emissions-free transports are becoming increasingly important for the construction industry,” said Marco Polastri, Sales, After sales & Marketing director at CIFA. “This truck is a great example of how we and Scania, in a close partnership, effortlessly can produce advanced fossil-free solutions virtually ‘out of the box’, based on what we already have in our respective portfolios.” “This is yet another fine example how BEVs are doing their break-through into urban applications where their capabilities can give them a distinct edge over conventional trucks,” added Fredrik Allard, senior vice president, head of Electrification at Scania. “This XT truck with its smart CIFA e-mixer can deliver 7 m3 of concrete with zero local emissions and without adding to the existing background noise.” The CIFA Energya SLE7 mixer is powered via the trucks e-PTO and on a typical working day, when the truck will travel anything between 120 to 200 km, something like 30 kWh will be needed for operating the mixer itself. It is rotated by a 650 V electric motor and inverter, and the solution also includes 24 V auxiliary devices and a pressurised water tank. The Scania 25 P XT has a 4,350 mm wheelbase and an electric-steered tag axle. It offers excellent maneuverability in urban construction sites. It is powered by a 230 kW (310 hp) electric motors with a 2-speed transmission. The installed battery capacity on this individual is 297 kWh, offering ranges of up to 250 km.
