Trelleborg inaugure une nouvelle usine en Caroline du Sud Représentant un investissement de 50 millions $US (69 millions $), l’usine de production de 430 000 m2 élargit la portée mondiale du groupe sur le marché du pneu agricole. L’usine de Spartanburg est l’une des unités de production les plus automatisées dans le secteur agricole. Cela devrait permettre de garantir le plus haut niveau de production aux clients nord-américains. L’inauguration de l’usine de production de pneumatiques agricoles s’est déroulée le 27 janvier dernier. La production des pneus agricoles a quant à elle débuté fin 2015. Les équipements destinés à la fabrication seront progressivement installés jusqu’en 2018 pour répondre à la croissance du marché et veiller à ce que les constructeurs, les concessionnaires et les agriculteurs bénéficient de la proximité de Trelleborg et la disponibilité des produits.
Le service d’assistance Volvo Penta Action Service s’internationalise Le réseau de plus de 3500 concessionnaires Volvo Penta demeure la première ligne de support pour les clients. Ceux-ci peuvent dorénavant joindre ce service 24h/24, 365 j/an pour l’ensemble des produits de la gamme Volvo Penta. En cas de bris mécanique, le client peut appeler Volvo Penta Action Service où un opérateur fournira le soutien tout au long du processus. Lorsqu’une intervention est nécessaire, le client est mis en contact avec le plus proche concessionnaire Volvo Penta qui possède les compétences requises. «Bien que ce service ne soit pas nouveau, il a été considérablement élargi pour offrir une couverture vraiment globale, dans plusieurs langues», explique Stephan Orsulic, directeur du service après-vente. Les clients ont accès au service dans 28 langues, peu importe où ils sont dans le monde. «Nous voulons nous assurer qu’aucun client ne sera mal pris sans savoir où s’adresser», ajoute monsieur Orsulic. «Nous tâchons de fournir le soutien là où, et dès que, le client en a besoin. Lorsque le temps est compté, nous sommes là pour remettre le client au travail aussi rapidement que possible.»
SNC-Lavalin conclut une entente en vue de la vente de sa participation dans Malta International Airport SNCL Malta détient une participation de 38,75% dans Malta Mediterranean Link Consortium Limited (MMLC), qui à son tour détient une participation de 40% dans Malta International Airport plc (MIA). MMLC a été créé en 2001 dans l’unique but de présenter des soumissions dans le cadre du projet de privatisation de l’aéroport de Malte lancé par le gouvernement de Malte. MMLC a ultimement remporté le contrat. Ainsi, SNC-Lavalin détient une participation indirecte de 15,5% dans MIA, qui gère l’infrastructure aéroportuaire en vertu d’un accord de concession de 65 ans. L’entente de SNC-Lavalin en vue de vendre sa participation indirecte dans SNCL Malta est conforme au plan stratégique de l’entreprise, qui est de cibler une croissance soutenue dans les marchés clés et de monétiser une partie de ses investissements dans les concessions d’infrastructure arrivées à maturité.

CIFA à bauma CIFA, poursuit sa tradition d’innovation sur le marché des machines pour béton. Après avoir présenté d’abord en 2013 la technologie Hybride avec la série ENERGYA pour les auto-bétonnières E8 et E9, CIFA élargit maintenant la série ENERGYA en y intégrant une machine pour le «spritz beton» (béton projeté ou «shotcrete») dans le cadre des machines pour le creusement de tunnels. Elles ont le grand avantage d’être plus silencieuses que les machines diesel et se distinguent aussi par des coûts d’exploitation plus bas car les frais d’électricité et d’entretien sont généralement plus faibles. Par ailleurs, ces compresseurs ne dégagent évidemment aucune émission polluante et sont donc utilisables à l’intérieur des bâtiments. Ils sont proposés dans des versions mobiles et stationnaires.

New York City Accepts High Strength Steel Designs Using ASTM A1035 Rebar By applying high strength steel reinforcement designs in high rise buildings, designers can solve costly rebar congestion problems and developers can complete construction more quickly, resulting in substantial savings. Using high strength Grade 100 rebar, such as ChrōmX 2100 (ASTM A1035), in high rises allows for substantial reduction in steel of up to 40%, and reductions in related fabrication and placement costs of up to 60%. There are also additional potential efficiencies in construction design, such as narrowing shear walls and columns or thinning mat foundations, resulting in significant savings in costs and time. “ASTM A1035 is now the only 100 ksi reinforcing steel allowed in any New York structure, the only reinforcement over 80 ksi that can be used in beams and slabs, and the only 100 ksi reinforcement that can be used in Seismic Design Categories A, B and C,” said Tom Russo, MMFX Steel Corporation CEO. “Designing at these higher strengths using this new bulletin and ChrōmX (A1035) rebar will result in up-front construction cost savings, as well as increased construction efficiencies and eased logistics, benefiting contractors, developers and city residents.” Specifically, Buildings Bulletin 2015-036 allows designs up to 100,000 psi yield using ASTM A1035 reinforcement in accordance with ACI 318, as modified by ACI ITG 6R-10 and ICC-ES AC429. The bulletin allows applications of ASTM A1035 Grade 100 reinforcement in longitudinal and transverse members, including slabs and beams, in Seismic Design Categories A, B and C. With the adoption of Buildings Bulletin 2015-036, New York City joins other major high rise markets such as Miami and Seattle that are already applying high strength rebar designs in high rise towers. The timing of this bulletin is beneficial to design teams and developers with high rise projects planned across New York City. These projects stand to immediately benefit from applications of high strength steel designs as they reach higher and higher to make the most of the city’s precious real estate. For example, the 111 West 57th Street residential tower being constructed by JDS Construction Group in partnership with Property Markets Group will reach over 426 m into the sky. With a width to height ratio of only 1:23, it will be the narrowest tower in the world. Other projects currently in planning and construction such as One Vanderbilt (461.4 m), Nordstrom Tower (472.4 m), 432 Park Avenue (425.5 m), and 53 West 53rd (381.0 m) could have clearly benefitted from high strength designs. The new bulletin provides opportunities for the many towers and skyscrapers in design to realize the advantages of 100 ksi reinforcement and represents an important step forward in the improvement of construction in New York City.

Botlink Announces Drone Integration Into Procore Construction Management Software Construction managers can remotely oversee the progress of projects, document the evolution of jobsites, ensure OSHA compliance, monitor equipment and anything else that can be viewed from the air. Since the typical flight takes less than 10 minutes and data begins flowing into Procore before the aircraft has even landed, all project stakeholders with Procore access, no matter where they are located, will be able to access the same aerial imagery instantly. “At Procore, we’ve built the best in-class construction project management platform. Many of our customers have applications that are ‘must haves’ for their business to run efficiently,” said Steve Zahm, president of Procore Technologies. “Through Procore Connect and our partnership with Botlink, we are able to provide our customers with access to drone technology that offers real-time aerial imagery. Procore Connect makes it easy to integrate with the apps, solutions and processes that our clients want to use.” Procore users simply connect a small Botlink cellular device to their compatible drone and then use the Botlink app for mission planning, automated flight control, safety advisories and real-time data delivery. Advisories are displayed on a georeferenced map and show the exact location of the user’s aircraft in relation to restricted airspace, nearby manned aircraft and incoming weather. While in flight, Botlink triggers the drone’s camera and captures hundreds of high-resolution images that are stitched together using georeferenced position data and discrete features within each image. The result is a single, high-resolution orthomosaic image that can be manipulated and analyzed as needed. This process was previously only available through expensive airplane and helicopter flights or by using low-resolution satellite images that can be more than a week old, due to weather and other limiting factors.
Trimble Announces Machine Control System for Wheel Loaders The Trimble GCS900 version 12.81 release includes a new 3D configuration for wheel loaders, broadening the range of machine types supported. Contractors can realize a higher and more rapid return on their investment in technology by using Trimble machine control components on a variety of machines and for more applications. “Trimble GCS900 version 12.81 means big productivity gains for contractors who operate wheel loaders,” said Ryan Kunisch, marketing director for Trimble’s Civil Engineering and Construction Division. “We have seen up to a 40% increase in productivity for material placement and grading activities and typically a 25% reduction in undercutting when the GCS900 system is used.” The new configuration for wheel loaders allows contractors to realize productivity gains in both fine and rough grading applications. Operators can precisely control the amount of material being graded, improve fine grading accuracy and time, and reduce the potential for undercutting the surface during material placement or removal. Using a wheel loader equipped with GCS900, contractors can track material weight with a Trimble LOADRITE® weighing system. In addition, material placement and grade can be monitored by adding a VisionLink® Project Monitoring subscription for a more accurate and complete picture of project progress.
Vactor Manufacturing to Represent US Jetting Brand in North America The partnership with US Jetting, a leading provider of sewer jetting equipment, is effective immediately. It allows Vactor to offer products and solutions tailored to smaller municipalities and industrial contractors working on specific applications that require trailer- and skid-mounted jetters with capacities up to 3,800 l. MAXX Frictional Mastic Surface Treatment Applicators Extend Pavement Life Available in 2 models, the MA20 and MA30, the MAXX Applicator applies a material mix that is made to precise specification, resulting in fewer operator calculations and on-the-job adjustments, which minimizes operator training time. The full-length ribbon mixer works to maintain the proper material consistency during transit, pumping and spraying operations, regardless of the truck engine speed. The pavement treatment is then applied over the existing pavement through a patent-pending, hydraulically operated, variable-width, low-pressure spray bar that has side-shift capabilities. Hydraulically powered pumps automatically adjust to the truck’s speed, ensuring accurate application rates at variable speeds. The MA20 has a 7,571 l material tank and the MA30 features a 11,356 l material tank. In either model, this steel tank contains a hydraulically-driven, full-sweep ribbon mixer with counterflow mixing technology that keeps the aggregates in suspension. In-cab controls eliminate the need for a rear operator by allowing the driver to operate all systems, including the mixer start/stop/reverse and spray bar start/stop, height and width, side-shift and individual nozzle controls. Application is computer controlled with an onboard system that ensures accurate application rates by continuously varying the pump rate, based on the truck speed and spray width. Easy-access mastic strainers protect the pump and spray nozzles from clogging and potential damage by aggregates and solid material. The MAXX line offers a technologically advanced low-pressure system that operates at less than 40 psi (275.8 kPa). It provides single- or dual-pump operation, with more than 378.5 l/min delivered through the spray bar in single-pump mode and over 757 l/min delivered in dual-pump mode. In dual-pump operation, the product loads in less than 30 minutes. All systems are powered by PTO-driven hydraulic pumps. The hydraulically adjustable spray bar provides double overlap spray widths from 0.46 m to 5.9 m, in 457 mm increments.
Remote Control System for Cat® Skid Steer, Multi Terrain and Compact Track Loaders “Providing customers a solution to remove the operator from harm’s way while operating Cat compact loaders in certain applications further supports Caterpillar’s commitment to safety,” stated Jeff Griffith, sr. market professional for Caterpillar. “TORC Robotics and Caterpillar have teamed up on the development of this solution for SSLs, MTLs and CTLs and have an exclusive marketing agreement to distribute and support RemoteTask through Cat dealers.” The RemoteTask controls feature virtually no lag in machine response time. With RemoteTask, the remote operator’s performance is as fast and smooth as in-cab operation. The intuitive remote control interface is designed to closely mimic in-cab machine controls, creating an easy operator transition from manual to remote operation. “When I use the RemoteTask controller, the machine response is instantaneous,” said Bob Shoop, product demonstrator/instructor for Caterpillar. “The feel and response mirrors the operator controls of the machine itself. Remote controls I’ve tested previously often had a delayed response.” Transforming a machine is simple. It only takes about an hour for a Cat dealer to install the RemoteTask system. With the system installed, the machine can transition from manual to remote mode at the turn of a key switch. The system is completely transferrable between units. The portable yet durable console allows the operator to move as needed for good lines of sight. RemoteTask can be integrated into 16 models of Cat D Series Skid Steer, Multi Terrain and Compact Track Loaders and can control more than 200 work tools with all hydraulic functions controlled via the remote system.
